I like to think of them as seasons, they come and go and keep on changing. there was the season when they are babies and needed 24/7 care, Im reaching the teen season but eventually she will leave to establish her own life and like the seasons I will need to change and adapt to a new season.
I love the idea of calling these the “open-door years” instead of an empty nest. My son also to his school, so our home is becoming an open door too - quiet during the week, then full of life, stories, and laundry on the weekends. It’s such a bittersweet transition.
